Jun 13, 2018. #1. Yesterday I picked up a pair of B&W Matrix 3 Series 2 speakers. I paid what I felt was a reasonable price for them, considering the condition. I couldn't find a lot of information about them, except for some threads scattered throughout forums discussing their heritage and lineage. It seems that overall they're a great product
The 802 is actually better than the 801, IME. The dual 8" woofers just walk over the single 12", as far as bass control is concerned. My dream B&W speaker would be the Matrix 802, the one-newer-revision model of the one you have. I still remember those fondly, from selling them new in 1987.
